Community Poem: My Mind is Free

From the Carceral Dialectics Project

My mind is free when
I walk by the river
Breathe the fresh air
Play with my adorable little son
And laugh with family and friends

I listen to words of hope
Hug my little children
Think of successful ventures
And I love the woman within

I look into the eyes of
my litte
I see hope, love and
happiness
I see a positive future
ahead
I see life as free as a
bird in the heavenly skies.

My mind is free when
I don’t allow my physical imprisonment
to affect my emotional
or mental state.
I close my eyes and I am free.

My mind is free when I am in a peaceful
place and nothing is around me

My mind is free cause I am by myself alone.
My mind is free when I am not think about
nothing just leting me float like water in the
Air.

My mind is free cause it is not stressing
out about anything. My mind is free when I
have my eyes closed and focusing on the good
things and fun things in my mind just having
my mind relaxing with a drink in my hand.
